Liam Hoye
FOUNDING PRINCIPAL
Liam Hoye was raised in Medway, Massachusetts, where he was exposed to the industry from an early age. With a mother in interior design and a contractor for a next-door neighbor, he developed a strong appreciation for both the creative and practical sides of residential construction.
After graduating from Union College with a degree in Economics, Liam chose to pursue the industry he was most passionate about. Under the guidance of close friend and mentor John Early, he spent several years immersed in all aspects of the business; from frame to finish, drawing to permitting, and project & site management.
In 2026, Liam founded Hoye Design Development, combining the knowledge and experience gained from his family, mentors, and years in the field into a company built around thoughtful planning, practical design, and real-world construction experience.
The mission of HDD is simple: provide homeowners and contractors with clear, buildable, and well-coordinated solutions. Whether collaborating directly with homeowners to develop a vision or supporting builders and trades with technical drawings and project planning, HDD is focused on creating designs that work both on paper and in the field.
Outside of work, Liam enjoys an active lifestyle dedicated to his many interests and hobbies. You can often find him out on the golf course or fishing the waters on Cape Cod.
PROCESS
Facilitating the handoff between homeowners & home builders.
From early feasibility studies to detailed design development and builder coordination, architectural design services are tailored to homeowners, builders, interior designers, and other trades.
1) PROJECT DISCOVERY
Every project begins with an on-site walkthrough to better understand the property, project goals, budget, and overall vision. This meeting allows us to review existing conditions, discuss priorities, and determine whether the project is a good fit for everyone involved. Basic measurements, photographs, and preliminary observations may also be gathered during this phase.
2) CONCEPTUAL DESIGN
Once the project direction is established, conceptual plans are developed to explore different layouts, configurations, and overall possibilities for the space. This phase includes preliminary feasibility review involving zoning considerations, approximate square footage, project scope, and budget alignment. These drawings are intended for planning and design exploration purposes only and are not permit or construction-ready documents.
Refinement & Revisions
After the initial concepts are prepared, we meet again to review the proposed designs and refine the preferred direction together. Revisions, layout improvements, additional measurements, and field verification may occur during this stage to improve clarity, functionality, and coordination. This phase is collaborative and focused on shaping the project into a finalized design direction.
Builder / Trade Coordination
Coordination with contractors, trades, or consultants may occur before finalizing the drawings to help verify constructability and identify potential conflicts early in the process. Bringing the builder and key trades into the conversation helps improve budgeting accuracy, align expectations, and reduce costly changes during construction. This phase may involve walkthroughs, meetings, or design review discussions depending on the project scope.
3) PRE-CONSTRUCTION
Construction Documentation
Once the design direction is approved, the final drawing package is developed based on the project scope and intended use. Depending on the project, the drawings may include floor plans, elevations, details, renderings, or permit-ready construction documents. This is typically the most detailed and time-intensive phase of the design process.
Design Development
Additional design support may be provided to help refine the final appearance, functionality, and overall cohesion of the project. This phase may include material recommendations, finish selections, fixture coordination, and architectural detailing guidance. The goal is to bridge the gap between conceptual design and real-world execution.
4) BUILDER SUPPORT
Builder support services may be provided throughout the construction process to assist with coordination, walkthroughs, design clarification, and overall project continuity. Site conditions and unforeseen circumstances can arise during construction, and maintaining communication throughout the process helps keep the project aligned with the original design intent.
Additional revisions, redesign work, or scope changes requested after document completion may result in additional service fees.
